“One of the proudest moments of my life was protecting Ambassador John Negroponte during the first free election in Iraq. It was inspiring to see Iraqi’s come up to him with their finger dipped in ink showing that they had stood up to tyranny and voted their free will!”

Chad Burke

Chad Burke is a former Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who, after leaving the department, spent time working in the Gulf of Mexico as a commercial diver before joining security details in  Bosnia and Iraq.

As a commercial “hard-hat” diver, Chad worked on the natural gas pipeline from Mobile, Alabama to Tampa, Florida. He has extensive experience working on oil rigs and various other oil transfer platforms. He made daily inspections of the lines used to transfer crude oil from vessels to the United States ensuring the safety of both personnel and the environment. He is a certified dive medic and hyperbaric chamber operator.

After time spent as a member of Personal Security Details in Basra, Iraq conducting the protection of Department of Defense personnel, Chad was assigned to Ambassador Negroponte’s personal security detail in Baghdad in 2004.

Afterwards, Chad was assigned to protect personnel from The US Department of Justice’s Regime Crimes Liaison’s Office (RCLO).  The team, led by Florida prosecutor Greg Kehoe and Regime Crimes Liaison Christopher Reid included Anne Tompkins, federal prosecutor of the Charlotte, NC US attorney’s office.  He and his detail provided security for the investigating team while it traveled Iraq and Kurdistan advising the Iraqi special tribunal and investigating the Anfal campaign in preparation for Saddam Hussein’s prosecution.

In February 2006 he was a member of an experimental protection team.  The Department of State expressed a desire for experienced close-protection personnel to man a low-profile protection detail to transport and protect DOS personnel in Baghdad.  This unconventional team needed to work without the same protection and support of conventional teams running in Baghdad at the time.  Chad was a core member and instrumental in developing and improving the procedures as a team leader until the summer of 2008.

Since 2009 Chad has held the responsibility of operating protection teams supporting another DOS contract.  Due to the loss of support following withdraw of the US military, new assets and relationships needed to be located and developed with the local military and intelligence communities.  Chad took advantage of his previous experience in Kurdistan and spear-headed this responsibility for his detail.  Those relationships continue to this day.

Chad heads up the North Carolina Branch for Executive Solutions where he provides uniform and plain clothed protection solutions to a global clientele.
